1988-2015. Professeur des Écoles Nationales Supérieures d’Art (ENSA), France. Lecturer in modern and contemporary art history and theory in the departments of art and of design at the ENSA in Limoge.
History and theory of American and European art and design from 1850 to 1950. History and theory of contemporary art. Art theory and philosophy. Undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Tutoring of students in studio practices and supervision of masters thesis in art and design.

1984-1985. Full-time lecturer in Modern Art History and Theory, Department of Art, Newcastle College of Advanced Education, New South Wales, Australia.

2007 : Production of an experimental audio guide in a partnership with Ivan Clouteau and the support of the education department at Centre Georges Pompidou. A study of 15 works of the contemporary collections of the Musée National d’Art Moderne exhibited between March 2007 and May 2008.

2005-2007. Co-supervision with Daniel Jacobi of research by Ivan Clouteau doctoral student at the University of Avignon. The changes in the registrar’s competences and practices from modern to contemporary art. A survey in contemporary art museums and centers in France. Project developed in a partnership between the ENSA Limoges-Aubusson, the University of Avignon (Laboratoire Culture et Communication directed by Daniel Jacobi) and the Ministry of Culture. Project funded by the Ministry of Culture – Délégation aux Arts Plastiques.

My contribution to the projet: Relation entre l’enseignement en école d’art et la formation du régisseur.

2006. Journey in the Outback. Artist’s book on the landscape of Central Australia, 2006. Permanently held in the collections: Récits de Voyageurs à la Médiathèque du Musée du Quai Branly, Département des Estampes et de la Photographie à la Bibliothèque Nationale, Research Library and Archive at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australian Library Collections at the Australian National Library. Project supported by the Faculty of Creative Arts, University of Wollongong.

The neo avant-gardés failure was its success: Art and Context. Proposal for the 2005 AAANZ Conference Transforming Aesthetics, Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney (keynote address: Nicolas Bourriaud).

Between 1998 and 2008 I developed at the ENSA in Limoges a cross-disciplinary educational project relating contemporary art to museum and gallery contexts and to curatorial practices, working with students on case studies and exhibitions in partnership with regional collections : with the Musée Départemental d’Art Contemporain de Rochechouart (1998-2000) and with the FRAC (Fonds Régional d’Art Contemporain) Limousin (2003-2008).

Between 1982 and 1985. Guest speaker at Sydney College of the Arts, at the Sydney Sculpture Symposium, at the University of Tasmania, at the University of Sydney and at art schools. Since 1985 Guest speaker at art schools in Australia and in France.


CURATORIAL EXPERIENCE – Linked to Research and teaching.

2011. Co-curatorship with Ivan Clouteau of the exhibition Se rappeler qu’une oeuvre. 10-20 May 2011 galerie du Conseil d’Architecture, d’Urbanisme et de l’Environnement (CAUE) de Limoges. Showing Michel BLAZY (Collection Les Abattoirs, Toulouse), Martin CREED (Collection Frac Languedoc-Roussillon) and Lawrence WEINER (Collection Ghislain Mollet-Viéville).

Co- curatorship with FRAC Puzzle 01 in 2005 (Alan Charlton, John M. Armleder, Rainier Lericolais, Michel Aubry), Puzzle 02 in 2006 (C. Andre, O. Mosset, J-F. Maurige, D. Renaud), Puzzle 03 in 2008 (Alain Doret, Daniel Firman, Franck Eon). Exhibitions of works from the collection of the FRAC, presented at the galleries of the ENSA in Aubusson and in Limoges. These exhibitions involved students in their preparations and installations.

2002 Curator of the exhibition L’oeuvre Conceptuelle, la Description. Works from the collection of the FRAC Limousin (Fonds Régional d’Art Contemporain) at the Galerie des Études, ENSA. With a house publication of an educational catalogue. Artists : Carl Andre, Chris Burden, Jean Mazeaufroid, Juan Muñoz.

EXAMINING COMMITTEES

2008 : Member of the examining committee Ph.D thesis by Ivan Clouteau : Le rôle du régisseur et de la régie dans les médiations de production d’oeuvres d’art contemporain. Dpt des sciences de l’information et de la communication. Université d’Avignon.
Since 1989 a member of several examining committees in Art Schools for the Diplôme National supérieur d’expression plastique (DNSEP) in art and design.
